court systems

I was in court today. I stood in a long line at the small claims court with fellow "criminals" to see either a District or a judge. I found it interesting that everyone in line was complaining about how screwed up the system is. They ranted and raved about the different ways it was wrong. Standing in long lines, getting up early to go to court, etc. One even proclaimed that "the reason there is high crime is because there are so many tickets being given out by cops. They obviously can not focus on serious crimes, too."

I laughed inside. The people who committed the crime, the injustice, were standing in line to justify themselves, to receive justice, yet they complained about the injustice that they were suffering.

How can someone who commits injustice complain about this? I think this accurately reflects the mindset of American society.

that is an interesting point. its very true though, for some reason people in today's society are unwilling to accept responsiblity for his or her own actions. People are constantly trying to find ways to justify their own wrong doings.

I think it was in Mere Christianity..? Where Lewis says that people who claim that they are the victims of injustice are implicitly agreeing that there is a real standard of justice that is not arbitrary and that applies to all people regardless.
